            <title>Belford stay top in North Northumberland League</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>In Division Two of the Sportsworld North Northumberland League, Belford extended their lead at the head of the table.</p>

<p>However, they were made to work hard by a determined Hedgeley Rovers, who trailed by a single finish at half-time.</p>

<p>Belford added four more in the second half with Stuart Keys (2), Fraser Tait, Chris Hay and Neil Jefferson all on the scoresheet.</p>]]></description>

            <title>North Northumberland League football round-up</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>A top-against-bottom clash in Division One saw no surprises as leaders Lowick United ran out comfortable winners against Berwick United Reserves.</p>

<p>Two goals apiece from Colin Young and Karl Chapman and single strikes by Andy Burgon, Anthony Murray and Jamie Punton made up the Lowick total.</p>

<p>In Division Two, Bamburgh netted three times through Darren Egdell, Stephen Campbell and Johnny Love against Springhill.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Belford defeat Bamburgh to cling onto top spot</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p><span class="mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Belford (pictured in the plain strip) take on Bamburgh Castle. Photo by Steve Miller" src="http://seahouses.journallive.co.uk/sport/bamburghbelford.jpg" width="200" height="273" class="mt-image-right" style="float: right; margin: 0 0 20px 20px;" /></span>Despite a thaw in the wintry weather, Saturday's minor league programme was all but oblierated again.</p>

<p>No matches were played in the Pin Point Recruitment Northern Alliance League, the Durham Alliance, the Tyneside Amateur League or the North East Christian Fellowship League.</p>

<p>However, in Division Two of the Sportsworld North Northumberland League, Belford (pictured in the plain strip- photo by Steve Miller) continue to hold top spot after coming from behind to defeat Bamburgh 5-1. Kevin Potts fired Bamburgh ahead, but a Stuart Keys hat-trick and two Neil Jefferson goals gave Belford the points. </p>

<p>In the only other game played, efforts from Darren Burn and Colin McLelland took Lynemouth Institute into the semi-finals of the Bilclough Cup with victory over Alnmouth United.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Seahouses competition success for karate juniors</title>

<p>Ashington and Linton students competed superbly in team and Individual kata and kumite events, as entrants of all ages gained recognition for their achievements.</p>

<p>Ashington's biggest achievers were the trio of Kyle Duddridge, Alex Ralph and Dylan Gibson.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>In their Sportsworld North Northumberland League game, Darren Edgell notched an early effort for Bamburgh, with Mark Forrest equalising for Hedgeley before the break.</p>

            <title>Belford miss chance to extend lead</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>Belford lost out on the chance to extend their lead at the head of the North Northumberland League Division One as a determined display from Rothbury Reserves saw the points shared at Armstrong Park.</p>

<p>Bradley Welch and Matt Crane had given the home team the lead, but two goals in the final half-hour from Ryan Lillico and Ben Young saw Belford preserve their unbeaten League record.</p>

<p>Elsewhere, Craster Rovers did themselves a favour as strikes from Stephen Watson, a David Hogg penalty and a Bryan Murray finish gave them victory at Hedgeley Rovers, whose single scorer was Mark Watson.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Belford continue to lead Division Two of the North Northumberland League- but only after just edging out local rivals Bamburgh Castle.</p>

<p>Kevin Greshon and Chris Hay were the Belford scorers, with Kevin Potts replying for Bamburgh.</p>

<p>Springhill had Stevie Eamons and Mark Reid on target as they kept up their challenge with a win over Boulmer, whose single reply came from Mathew Sullivan.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Springhill fail to stop Belford taking first place</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>With the Division cups taking place, only one North Northumberland League game was played last weekend.</p>

<p>But it was a significant result, with Belford taking over at the top of Division Two with a 3-2 win at Springhill.</p>

<p>David Jardine notched twice for the home side, before Ryan Lillico pulled one back for Belford. But two late goals from Kevin Greshon meant Belford took the three points - and the No 1 spot.<br />

            <description><![CDATA[<p>In Division Two of the North Northumberland League, Bamburgh Castle took a four-goal lead against Wooler thanks to a Jack Nicop hat-trick and a Daniel Johnson finish.</p>

<p>Wooler, however, staged a late comeback to net twice through Luke Strangeways and Stuart Bertram.</p>

<p>In Division Two, Lynemouth Institute were too strong for Craster Reserves as Lenny Lansbury helped himself to five goals.</p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>A Jake Lowes goal gave Alnwick the lead at Lowick, but the home team took a share of the points thanks to an equaliser from Andrew Burgon.</p>

<p>Acklington picked up their first win of the season thanks to two goals by Eric McKevitt and single strikes by Aaron Redpath, Wayne Robinson, Richard Lemon and Dell Sawes. </p>

<p>However, it was not all one way as Berwick United Reserves hit back with a Chris Falconer hat-trick and a Michael Robinson goal. </p>]]></description>

            <description><![CDATA[<p>Bedlington Terriers Reserves were on the wrong end of a heavy defeat at Rothbury in the North Northumberland League this weekend.</p>

<p>Four goals from Jackie Angus, three by Craig Sutton and single strikes by Stuart Foreman, Alan Brown, Michael Ord and Scott Rennison saw the home team net 11 times.</p>

<p>Berwick Town put in a better performance, but still lost out to Shaun McKay and Kyle Kennedy efforts for Shilbottle.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Youngsters show off cricket skills at Bamburgh</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p><span class="mt-enclosure mt-enclosure-image" style="display: inline;"><img alt="Cricket day at Bamburgh" src="http://seahouses.journallive.co.uk/sport/bamburghcricketday.jpg" width="200" height="172" class="mt-image-right" style="float: right; margin: 0 0 20px 20px;" /></span>Bamburgh Cricket Club was the venue for an exhibition of youth cricket as nine under-11 teams from across Northumberland showed off their talents.</p>

<p>All participating teams were decked out in coloured clothing for the event, which was centred around creating the right atmosphere to play the game.</p>

<p>There was no overall winner or trophy to play for, but each game was played in a competitive fashion.</p>]]></description>

            <title>Grace Darling&apos;s descendant is rowing star</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>They share the same famous surname and the same lineage, so it's no surprise Emma Grace Darling has turned out to be as awesome on the water as her great-great-great-great aunt.</p>

<p>Grace Darling's fame was assured forever on that fateful night in 1842 when she rowed to the rescue of the stricken souls on the steamship Forfarshire.</p>

            <title>Plenty of goals to start NNFL season</title>
            <description><![CDATA[<p>The first games of the new North Northumberland Football League campaign produced plenty of goals in both divisions.</p>

<p>Two goals in the first 10 minutes from George Scott and John Packer saw Rothbury Res ahead at home to Hedgeley Rovers, but the visitors hit back to take the points thanks to efforts from Mark Forrest, Stephen Shendon and Daniel Havelin.</p>

<p>Leading the way in Division One were Lowick United, who netted eight times without reply.</p>]]></description>
