North Northumberland League football round-up

Posted by The Journal on Jan 27, 10 03:29 PM in Sport

A top-against-bottom clash in Division One saw no surprises as leaders Lowick United ran out comfortable winners against Berwick United Reserves.

Two goals apiece from Colin Young and Karl Chapman and single strikes by Andy Burgon, Anthony Murray and Jamie Punton made up the Lowick total.

In Division Two, Bamburgh netted three times through Darren Egdell, Stephen Campbell and Johnny Love against Springhill.

However, Springhill took a share of the points thanks to two David Jardine finishes and a Kristian Neil penalty.

Daniel Donohoe with a hat-trick, Mikey Hall (2) and single strikes from Chris Chisholm and John Costa gave Embleton the points, with Mark Forrest replying twice for Hedgeley Rovers.

Adam Stanton, Matthew Sullivan and a Ron Murray own goal saw Boulmer FC grab a welcome victory at Alnmouth United, whose two replies came from Jamie York and Ryan Taylor.

In the NFA Minor Cup, Alnwick Town Reserves and Shilbottle CW both lost to end the league's interest in this year's competition.
